Grounded in Western Sydney
I'm Sujan Selven, Greens councillor for Wentworthville Ward and candidate for Prospect at the 2027 NSW election. Western Sydney has been my home since I arrived in Australia, and I have spent 12 years working for the people who live here.
My story
Our suburbs are home to people from every part of the world. That is our strength. Yet too often we pay more and wait longer for the basics: a rent we can afford, a bus that turns up, a doctor we can see, a power bill we can pay.
I am running for Prospect because the people who make Western Sydney work deserve a government that works for them.
Background
Western Sydney became my home the day I arrived in Australia. I went to Homebush Boys High School, studied Events and Business Management, and chose to build my life and my business here.
I now run a small business in Toongabbie, and I am studying Local Government at UTS so I understand how every level of government decides what happens on our streets.
Experience
I first put my name forward for Prospect in 2014 and stood at the 2015 election. In the 12 years since, I have campaigned for the Greens at local, state and federal level and run for Cumberland City Council three times.
In 2023, I stood for Prospect again and 3,610 locals gave me their first preference vote. In September 2024, I was elected the first Greens councillor on Cumberland City Council. Two years on, I am still the only Greens voice on a council of 15, and I use it to put residents first.

Working with people, where they are
I start by listening. I have knocked on doors across Wentworthville Ward, called community meetings when residents felt shut out of big decisions, and made myself easy to reach.
Listening is only the start. My job is to turn what I hear into results: a rent cap that holds, a clinic you can walk into, a bus that comes often. That is the work ahead in Prospect.

Every policy I fight for comes back to one question: what does it mean for the people who live here? Prospect deserves a representative who lives locally, listens first and keeps showing up.
I stand with the Greens for ecological sustainability, grassroots democracy, social justice, and peace and non-violence. In Prospect, that means public services that work, homes people can afford, and a community where everyone belongs.
